Applications

for Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

Primary Lab Flow Standards

are required in a number of industries where monitoring flow accuracy is of critical importance. Specifically, National and Regional Metrology Labs, Government Air Quality Departments, MFC Manufacturers, Instrument Manufacturers (E.g. leak test equipment, AQ instruments, other flow meters) and Third Party Calibration Labs. They are ideal for both volumetric and standardized flow applications where a high degree of measurement accuracy is required

Bacterial Filtration Efficiency of Medical Masks Testing according to ASTM F2101

provides a quantitative method for determining the filter efficiency of mask materials against pathogens. With the recent pandemic, ensuring the PPE equipment we are using not only meet relevant standards, but their efficiency across different application is critically important for research facilities, universities and manufacturers of filter media, additives, and complete filter assemblies.

Occupational Hygiene Exposure Monitoring

is essential to the health and wellbeing of employees in industries where there is a high risk of exposure to substances or mixtures through inhalation, absorption through the skin or ingestion. Inhalation of vapours, dusts, fumes or gases are a known cause of poor health and premature mortality in humans. It is clear that accurate and reliable monitoring is of the upmost importance, which is why the Workplace Exposure Standards for Airborne Contaminants outlines hazardous substances with upper limits of exposure that employers must adhere to.

Indoor Climate Monitoring

is relevant to any environment needing to maintain steady conditions, especially if there is refrigeration or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems involved. Faults can happen unexpectedly with the best maintained systems, monitoring and tracking their output will flag any inefficiencies in its performance to avoid any surprises.

Ch Technologies ATSM 2101 Testing Rig

CH Technologies have carefully developed a complete testing apparatus for measuring Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) of medical masks according to the methods prescribed in ASTM F2101 and EN 14683. The rig comes with a low flow Blaustein Atomizing Modules (BLAM), which, due to its ability to run the devices in single-pass mode, would likely be the gentlest on the micro-organisms and would be our recommendation this type of work. Running a nebulising device in multi-pass mode is harsh on the organisms because more than once, they are being shot through the jet into the wall of the jar, thus damaging the cells.

Features:

  • The equipment can be supplied as either a complete test rig or any of the individual components which means existing equipment can be utilised
  • Using the BLAM test article generator for aerosolization of samples means greater viability of microorganisms in bio-aerosols, therefore preserving the integrity of your research data.
Standards Met

ATSM 2101 and EN 14683

Applications

Bacterial Filtration Efficiency of Medical Masks Testing

Installation

The BFE Test Rig must be operated inside a Class II biocontainment cabinet that has a sufficient internal height to accommodate the Rig. This is due to the need for a contagious virus to conduct this testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are DryCal flow calibrators really a Primary Standard?

Yes. DryCal’s accuracy is based measuring the time it takes to displace a known volume of gas. The volume displacement is obtained by the dimensional measurements of the flow cell using the primary units of measure – length and time. As there is no drift of the dimensional properties of the DryCal units (they don’t change their shape), these instruments are classified as primary because their readings are directly derived from the SI units (length, mass and time).

Mesa Labs is accredited to ISO 17025 by The National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). NVLAP, administered by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), provides third-party accreditation to public and private laboratories based on evaluation of their technical qualifications and ability to perform specific tests and calibrations compliant with ISO.

We are proud to state that Mesa Labs’ scope of accreditation appears to be the greatest of any ISO 17025-accredited flow facility in the world, at ±.08% standardized accuracy. A copy is available upon request.

Can the CDL Tecora CIP10 Sampling Pump monitor for Crystalline Silica?

Yes, the individual dust sampler CIP 10 has been developed to meet the requirements, rigors and needs of coal mines. Nowadays this small and compact instrument is intended for collection of dust, in order to evaluate the concentrations of silica gel inhaled by the workers during their work time.

Can Ch Technologies ATSM 2101 Testing Rig test hospital gowns and other PPE?
